A safe place where children & young adults from all backgrounds can come & just enjoy a day filled with fun with horses & find peace & joy in the simple things of life.
HOW WE GOT STARTED
After riding all summer and getting to know and love these kids, it was confirmation we needed to do something but what and how? We had no barn, no arena & no driveway! And most important, or so we thought . . . we had no money. We had no means for any of these things. When the children still came dead of winter, wading knee deep mud down the long driveway just to get to the house for Bible Study we began claiming this ranch and dedicated this land to Him. We decided to concentrate on what He had blessed us with already instead of what we didn't have at the time. We knew that the Lord would supply the rest!
WHAT KIND OF CHILDREN DO WE SERVE?
It is out prayer to serve all children and young adults. Being a child in this day and age is difficult. The word disadvantaged takes on so many meanings: mental, emotional, physical, functional or poor. If we think about it we are all disadvantaged to some degree. We want to encourage the broken hearted so they will have hope for the future.
HOW MUCH DO WE CHARGE?
Giving all the honor and praise to the Lord our program is free for any child who wants to come!
WHEN CAN WE COME TO THE RANCH?
We are a day-use facility only at this time. We do have scheduled riding times and events. This means those who use the ranch visit during the day but are not housed here.
IS BROKEN HEART RANCH A RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION?
No. BHR is not associated with any particular religious congregation. However, we are founded on Christian faith values. It is lived out here on the ranch on a daily basis. Our greatest desire is to love the Lord and carry out His plans. We want to be doers of His Word and lead by example. We want to love and serve families of all backgrounds.
DO WE ACCEPT DONATIONS?
Yes, we do accept donations. Our first and greatest need is prayer and prayer partners. We welcome any new or used tack. Running and maintaining the ranch and taking care of our horses is costly so any cash donations are greatly appreciated as well.
When children are given goals, responsibilities and are reaching outside of themselves, usually an amazing transformation is revealed. They begin to gain self confidence, trust, respect and most of the time learning how to truly love while working with and riding horses. This is what we see when we encourage and love on these children!
FACT: Yes, Jamie and Michelle do require a lot of Mountain Dew and Skittles. Their metabolic rate requires them!!
